Helen Keller at age 12 was like a wild animal. Deaf, blind and utterly unable to communicate, she went through her young life alienated and terrified, struggling against all who tried to help her. Annie Sullivan was half-blind herself, but inordinately patient and equally determined to help this bright young girl overcome her frightening loneliness and reach out to the world around her.
